Male Breast Reduction

Male Breast Reduction (Gynaecomastia Correction):

Gynaecomastia is a medical term that comes from the Greek words for woman-like breasts. It may affect only one breast or both. Though certain drugs and medical problems have been linked with male breast over development, there is no known cause in the vast majority of cases.

For men who feel self-conscious about their appearance, breast-reduction surgery can help. The procedure removes fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer, and better contoured..

The best candidates for Gynaecomastia correction?

Surgery to correct gynaecomastia can be performed on healthy, emotionally stable men of any age. The best candidates for surgery have firm, elastic skin that will reshape to body's new contours.

Planning your surgery?

The initial consultation with us is very important. We will need a complete medical history, so check your own records ahead of time and be ready to provide this information. First, we will examine your breasts and check for causes of the gynaecomastia, such as impaired liver function, use of estrogen containing medications or anabolic steroids.

The Surgery?

A wide variety of surgical options are available for treatment of gynaecomastia. It depends upon the amount of fatty tissue, ductular component or excess skin component present in the breast. Treatment modalities include liposuction, liposuction with pull through resection, liposuction with glandular and excess skin resection etc. In the vast majority of patients the fat and glandular tissue can be removed by liposuction using specialized cannulas , as a result of which there is practically minimal scar. The surgery can be done under both local and general anesthesia depending upon the patient’s desire.

The patient is up and about immediately after the surgery. Strenuous exercises are to be avoided for 2 weeks . The patient can continue normal activities after three to four days.
